What's New in LEGION CONNECT Edition Update 3

Social Distancing Metrics

Update 3 brings new Analysis Metrics to analyse social distancing and pedestrian proximity (herein "SD Metrics"):

  • Three configurable social distancing levels, which may be enabled/disabled as needed as in Project Settings;
  • Proximity Count – for each entity, records the number of other entities within the defined social distance(s);
  • Current Breach Duration – for each entity, records how long entities breach social distance(s) with other entities, resetting to zero each time as each entity finds no others within the defined social distance(s) ;
  • Total Breach Duration– for each entity, records the total time spent breaching social distance(s) with other entities.
  • Optional “Wall Check” mode - for social distancing Metrics, for scenarios where physical obstacles between entities act as barriers to proximity. For instance:
    • a wall between two corridors is a proximity barrier (people cannot see and/or touch each other),
    • a rope barrier defining a corralled queue is not a proximity barrier (people can see and/or touch each other).

By default, all simulation obstacles are ignored for Proximity Metrics.

These new Analysis Metrics may be used in conditions, filters, maps and graphs.

The density-based Cumulative SD Maps added in Update 2 have been replaced with versions using the new SD metrics.

Entity Proximity Zone has can now display proximity indicators for any of the enabled social distance values defined in Project Settings.

A new default density Value Range based on the different Social Distances observed around the world.

Three new default Maps are provided, based on entity densities calculated from multiple countries’ observed Social Distance:
  • Intl. Cumulative Mean SD – shows mean Social Distances experienced in model areas.
  • Intl. Cumulative Min SD - shows minimum Social Distances experienced in model areas.
  • Intl. Dynamic SD - shows instantaneous Social Distances experienced by entities, each time-step.

The Time-in-Model entity attribute can now be used in Maps.

LEGION CAD Prep Application

This is a new standalone utility application, included with LEGION Model Builder CONNECT Edition Update 3.

LEGION CAD Prep is based on the Pedestrian Model Prep workflow used in OpenBuildings Station Designer™. It assists preparing CAD models for use in LEGION simulations:
  • Drawing Composition Wizard converts 3D CAD models to 2D LEGION CAD plans.
  • Helps simplify model CAD, providing a “clean” simulation boundary.
  • Enables CAD modification prior to use in a LEGION model.
